Alright, amigos, let’s talk about the important stuff: food! The Breakfast [buffet] was…decent. Standard fare, nothing mind-blowing, but Breakfast [buffet] is always a winner with me. I need to get some fuel in the morning. They also have Asian cuisine in restaurant, so I’m hoping for something with a bit of a twist.Bar, Coffee shop, Poolside bar. I mean, seriously, what more could you want? I am a sucker for a Happy hour, and the Room service [24-hour]. Although I had to wake up at 3 AM to order some midnight pizza (just kidding, but the thought!). Vegetarian restaurant – good for the veggies amongst us. And Snack bar because who doesn't love a cheeky snack?
Cosas que Hacer…¡Relajación y Bienestar!
Okay, now we're talking. They have a Swimming pool [outdoor], but it was a bit nippy. Nothing like a Pool with view to help me relax. I was also told about the Spa, Spa/sauna. I’m a sucker for a sauna, so I spent almost three hours sweating out my worries. Sauna, Steamroom, Massage – absolute bliss. I was even tempted by a Body scrub. Maybe next time…
Cleanliness y Seguridad (La era del COVID)
They seem to be taking this seriously, which is HUGE. Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Hand sanitizer everywhere, Staff trained in safety protocol, Rooms sanitized between stays. All good signs. They also seem to provide Individually-wrapped food options- It is also nice to know that the have Cashless payment service and Contactless check-in/out. I felt generally safe, which is priceless.
La Habitación (Mi pequeño refugio)
They have Non-smoking rooms, which is a bonus in my book. Air conditioning, Complimentary tea, Coffee/tea maker, Free bottled water, Hair dryer, Mini bar, Private bathroom – the essentials. But the real star? The Bathtub. Oh, the bathtub, my friends. I bathed for hours. There is also Bathrobes, Slippers, Separate shower/bathtub, Toiletries, Towels and Wake-up service – all a recipe for a perfect stay.

Concierge – a lifesaver when you're hopelessly lost. Daily housekeeping – the best feeling in the world to have. Luggage storage – essential if you're like me and overpack. The Laundry service is also a must, and you can’t beat Dry cleaning. There is even a Gift/souvenir shop.

¡Ay, ay, ay! Birdham y Bembridge, ¡allá vamos! This isn't just a trip, it's an adventure. A messy, glorious, probably slightly seasick adventure. Here's my haphazard-but-hopefully-heartwarming plan:
Día 1: Llegada y ¡Oh, los Muros de Birdham! (Birdham, ¡qué encanto!)
- 10:00 AM: ¡Aterrizaje! (Or, you know, the train. Whatever gets you there.) I'm already picturing the postcard-perfect Birdham: quaint cottages, manicured gardens, and… well, hopefully not a torrential downpour. My optimism is, let's say, fragile when it comes to UK weather.
- 11:00 AM: Check-in. Praying my accommodation isn't haunted or riddled with spiders. (Dramatic, I know, but that's me.)

¡Ah, la gran pregunta! ¿Un club secreto? Bueno, no *exactamente*. Es… como… un evento de búsqueda del tesoro, pero con más encanto y, si me permites, un toque de locura. Es como si Birdham, que es un pueblo de cuento, y Bembridge, que es una isla en sí misma, se hubieran puesto de acuerdo para esconder un montón de misterios y darte la oportunidad de desentrañarlos. Piensa: pistas enigmuticas, paisajes preciosos, y, si tienes suerte (y algo de persistencia), el "secreto"... que, a estas alturas, no tengo ni la más remota idea de qué es. ¡Ya te lo digo! Me registré con entusiasmo, esperando algo grandioso, y aquí estoy, rascándome la cabeza.
¿En serio, es peligroso? ¿Hay que escalar montañas? (Porque yo, con mis rodillas…)
¡No, no, no! En principio no vas a terminar como Indiana Jones, aunque…depende. Digamos que la logística es un poco… relajada. No he visto indicaciones claras del nivel de dificultad. La web lo pinta muy bonito, "un paseo por la costa"… A ver, “paseo” es muy subjetivo, ¿verdad? Mi cuñada, que es más aventurera que yo (y que camina a la velocidad de la luz), dijo que tuvo que "trepar un poco". Yo, con mis rodillas… bueno, la idea de "trepar" me genera un sudor frío. Pero de escalar el Everest, nada de nada. Eso sí, llévate calzado cómodo, porque vas a caminar. Mucho.

Si buscas una experiencia diferente, un día fuera de lo común, una excusa para respirar aire fresco y ver paisajes bonitos… entonces sí. Si esperas un tesoro repleto de diamantes… mejor busca otro tipo de evento. (Y si encuentras diamantes, ¡avísame!). Pero, he de confesar, que la simple anticipación de ¡descubrir algo! es muy, pero que muy adictiva.

¡Sí, claro que hay que registrarse! Como casi todo en la vida, te registras y pagas. La web es bastante clara, aunque a veces se me hace un lío. Te dan un "kit de bienvenida" que viene con pistas, un mapa (espero que sepa leer mapas, porque yo…), y algunas cosillas (no te esperes tampoco un botín gigante, ¡no es Fort Knox!). Y el precio… bueno, es asequible. No llega a ser un disparate que me quiebre económicamente. Lo más importante es que te organices: revisa bien la web, porque ya te digo, el equipo organizador es un poco… "holgazán" en la comunicación. Hay un montón de FAQs (que, claro, no son tan detalladas como las mías, ¡vaya!), y la guía es la que te ayuda a seguir las pistas.
¿Qué necesito llevar? ¿Tengo que ser un experto en códigos secretos?
¡Prepárate! Necesitas: calzado cómodo (MUY cómodo), agua, algo de comer (¡que no te dé el bajón!), ropa adecuada para el clima (aunque, claro, no sé qué clima te tocará…), una batería de móvil cargada (¡importante para las fotos y quizás para consultar pistas extra!), y… tu cerebro. Yo me llevé un cuaderno y un bolígrafo, porque soy de la vieja escuela y me gusta apuntar cosas. Y, sinceramente, me vino bien. ¡Ah! Y el sentido del humor, porque te prometo que lo vas a necesitar cuando te encuentres perdido, preguntándote si la pista que te dieron es un chiste interno, o algo así.
¿Y… cómo fue tu experiencia? Cuéntanoslo TODO. ¿Encontraste algo?
¡Ay… ¡la experiencia! Bueno, a ver, prepárense para una montaña rusa emocional. Empezó con mucha ilusión. La brisa marina, el sol… ¡perfecto! La primera pista… ¡ay, la primera pista! Era un acertijo poético que me dejó… ¿Cómo decirlo? Desconcertada. Me pasé una hora dando vueltas por la calle, mirando farolas, buscando un "reflejo en el cristal" (sí, en serio). Me sentí como una idiota. ¡Totalmente ridícula! Y al final… ¡descubrí que era la ventana de una tienda de antigüedades, que estaba cerrada! A la segunda pista, decidí pedir ayuda a mis amigos por whatsApp. Y al tercero, ya estaba convencida de que el "secreto" era el arte de perder el tiempo. Por cierto, el "premio" de esta primera experiencia, que al final no llegué a acabar, fue un bocadillo incomible de un bar local.

No me sentí *sola* en el sentido de aislada, pero sí un poco… "fuera de lugar". Hubo un momento en que pensé que estaba en una película de Wes Anderson, pero sin el encanto cool. El ambiente era… tranquilo. Demasiado tranquilo, quizás. Sinceramente, a veces me hubiera gustado un poco de compañía, unos gritos de júbilo al encontrar una pista… O un "¡eh, tú! ¿Sabes dónde está el secreto?" Pero no.
